My Ripple

Hello Unity Friends,

One of Unity in Community's own is a poet who writes under the pen name of Sean Marie.  Sean Marie came to UIC a couple of years ago and has made her mark in this growing spiritual community with the sharing of her time and talents.  This past Sunday, we had the privilege of being the first to hear one of Sean Marie's poems set to music by our guest musician Jim Fuller.  It was a proud day for all of us as we supported both Sean Marie and Jim in their creative endeavors.

This particular poem was inspired after the terrorists' attacks on New York City in 2001.  Throughout the poem/song, these questions are asked: "How do I fit in the world?"  "Where do I start?"  "Will my little ripple really matter in the end?"  In other words, "Do we really make a difference in this world?"

We often wonder, "How could we possible make a difference?"  In order to give our lives value, we need to know that somehow, someway, our lives on this planet will leave a positive mark.    "Oh God," we pray, "could we make a difference to one just person?"

The poem/song ends with the positive affirmation that yes, indeed, we do make a difference.
"And yes each little ripple really matters in the end.
Because there is no place inside this world where the ripple won't extend.
And when you walk beside me and support me as a friend
We will show the world how all hearts can blend."

Thank you for being the ripple that you are.

Namaste`,
Robin
