 Dear Unity Friends,
Have you ever thought about the things you would like to do before you die? Tim McGraw made popular
the saying, "Live like you were dying," with his hit song of the same name. In his song, Tim sings about
one of the things I always wanted to do before I left this planet. Last Sunday, I had a moment to realize that desire.
Rick and I were traveling north on Hwy 23. I was driving. Rick was surveying the winter landscape with
his avid "hunter" eyes. He turned in his seat to study something that was beyond my view. This is not
unusual for Rick is all about the great outdoors and wildlife; he is always seeing deer and groundhogs and such that go unnoticed to me. At
first he thought it was a wild turkey. But, then, wait, it was something else. It was a majestic bald eagle. As I stopped the car, for just a
moment, I saw that great, magnificent bird soar low over the Olentangy River, looking for its dinner.
Tim McGraw sings, "And I watched an eagle as it was flying..." The eagle represents life and freedom for many of us. I grew up during the
time when the eagle was disappearing. Then regulations were put in place to help it sustain life on this planet. Now, in the 21st century, the
bald eagle is back! The population has grown past the endangered species requirements. Over 600 bald eagles in Ohio alone. Every state in the union, except Hawaii, has some eagles in it.
This week, think about what you would like to do before your life here is complete. If watching an eagle as it is flying is one of them, Rick and I
invite you to join us after church on February 10th for a drive to Delaware State Park where eagles' nests have been seen. Of course, we can't
guarantee that one will take to the skies just for us, but it's always a possibility.
"I went sky diving I went Rocky Mountain climbing I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter and
