The Sermon on the Mount is one of the best-known set of verses in the Bible. These eight verses, called the Beatitudes or Be- Attitudes (Matt. 5: 3-10), set forth the foundational spiritual principles Jesus
taught. Let us look briefly at the first four of these ideals. The scripture is in italics. The metaphysical interpretation is below it.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Enriched are those who can empty themselves of all desire to exercise personal self-will for theirs is the experience of knowing
the limitless spiritual world within.
Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those who only find God when all else has failed them. In their despair, they will know the comfort of the Presence of God.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Prospered are those who are open-minded, have faith in God, and live from the realization that God's will is absolute
good. They shall make manifest a wonderful and powerful life experience, and all outer conditions will be in harmony and will bring success.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are those who crave an inner experience and are willing to change their thinking, therefore changing their very lives.
Over and over again, Jesus was saying that it is all about what is inside you. Take control of your thoughts. Fill yourself with spiritual ideas and your cup will runneth over.
